Computer Aided Design Specialist

Our client is seeking a skilled CAD Specialist to support engineering and construction design efforts across multiple disciplines. The CAD Specialist plays a key role in producing accurate, high‑quality drawings and models that support engineering design, permitting, fabrication, and construction. This role collaborates closely with engineers, project managers, and field personnel to translate technical concepts into clear, buildable documentation.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed 2D and 3D drawings, models, and design packages using AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D (and other CAD platforms as required).
• Develop plans, sections, details, and schematics for civil, structural, mechanical, or electrical scopes depending on project needs.
• Update drawings based on engineering markups, field changes, and redlines.
• Maintain drawing accuracy, consistency, and adherence to standards.
• Assist engineers with layout development, quantity takeoffs, and design revisions.
• Support the creation of construction documents, permitting packages, and as‑built drawings.
• Coordinate with project managers and field teams to ensure drawings reflect real‑world conditions and constructability.
• Ensure compliance with company CAD standards, layer conventions, file naming, and document control procedures.
• Perform self‑checks and peer reviews to maintain drawing quality.
• Help maintain CAD libraries, templates, and standard details.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to clarify design intent and resolve discrepancies.
• Participate in project meetings as needed to support design coordination.

Qualifications:

• Associate degree or technical certificate in drafting, engineering technology, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in CAD drafting for engineering, construction, or architecture.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; familiarity with Civil 3D, Revit, or other platforms is a plus.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, scales, dimensions, and drafting best practices.
• Ability to read and interpret technical plans, specifications, and field sketches.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Experience supporting industrial, commercial, or infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of construction processes, materials, and field practices.
• Experience with 3D modeling or BIM workflows.
