The Development Engineer analyzes, designs and develops new products and processes and improvements to products and processes by evaluating technical and economic factors, recommending engineering and manufacturing actions for attainment of design objectives of process or product by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Strong understanding of safety procedures understanding the impact of potential working hazards.
- Plans, develops, and maintains process cost standards, cycle times, setup times, routings, and bills of material in the manufacturing system.
- Fulfils the role of SAP Key User representing engineering activities as they relate to the manufacturing system.
- Plans, develops, and prepares manufacturing concepts leading to cost quotations for new or modified product designs.
- Create and or modify 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models (i.e. AutoCAD & Autodesk Inventor Software)
- Responsible as project leader for new product introductions and assigned APQP projects to ensure that equipment, processes, capacities, and capabilities are implemented to meet customer and company requirements. This may include supplier development activities.
- Evaluate, analyze, and make recommendations on products, designs, and cost improvements to improve the competitive position of the company.
- Plans, develops, and oversees test programs for prototypes or samples.
- Prepares and maintains process documents.
- Performs technical analysis of competitive products.
- Provides support to sales and marketing on product presentations and customer support. Has direct contact with customer representatives.
- B.S Degree in Engineering from an accredited 4-year College or University
- Minimum 5 of experience in engineering and manufacturing environment
- Product Development experience minimum 5 years
- Deep experience with APQP and PPAP
- Deep experience with SAP (Routings, BOM and Materials Master)
- Familiar with IATF 16949
- Familiar with quality tools such as PDCA, 5
Ws, Ishikawa, etc - Experience on negotiations with customers related to prototype lead time definition, technical discussions, etc
- Experience with Product and Process feasibility analysis
- Experience on process timing studies
- Experience with quotations of new products considering all the BOM, process routings, setup time costs, etc
- Project management experience
- Experience with cost saving projects
- Experience with Inventor and AutoCAD
- Advanced Excel (PIVOT table, charts, formulas, etc)
