Position:
Sr. Electrical Engineer
Location: Little Rock, Arkansas Area
A well-established engineering and construction firm is seeking a highly experienced electrical engineering professional to lead complex industrial projects. This role focuses on the design, execution, and commissioning of electrical systems for facilities such as smelters, refineries, and mineral processing plants, with a strong emphasis on safety, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide the development and implementation of electrical systems throughout all stages of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects, including FEED, detailed design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Approve and produce technical documentation such as power distribution layouts, substation designs, grounding systems, lighting plans, fire detection systems, and backup power configurations.
- Conduct and validate engineering studies using tools like ETAP, including short-circuit analysis, load flow, arc flash, and protection coordination.
- Ensure all designs meet applicable standards including NEC, IEEE, IEC, and other international codes.
- Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical infrastructure.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams-civil, structural, mechanical, and instrumentation-to ensure integrated system performance.
- Provide mentorship to junior engineers and technical guidance to subcontractors and project partners.
- Serve as the primary technical liaison with clients, vendors, and contractors to resolve issues and align deliverables.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's degree is advantageous).
- At least 15 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a minimum of 8 years in EPC projects within heavy industrial sectors such as mining or metals.
- Skilled in electrical design software including ETAP, AutoCAD Electrical, and Revit MEP.
- Deep understanding of medium- and low-voltage systems, substations, motors, and industrial automation.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship.
- Primarily office-based with extensive computer use.
- Occasional physical activity including walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Site visits may involve exposure to construction environments, including noise, dust, and weather conditions.
