Role Description
Arcadis is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our Water Management/Hydraulic Structural Team in Little Rock, AR, Baton Rouge, LA, or Metairie, LA.
As a Structural Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering engineering and consulting services for projects focused on flood risk reduction, waterfront infrastructure resilience, dam safety, lock and navigation structure design, and more.
Accountabilities & ResponsibilitiesConduct structural analysis, design, and engineering during construction services for climate adaptation projects, including seismic risk reduction, flood mitigation, and infrastructure resilience initiatives.
- Conduct structural engineering investigations, calculations, and planning work within a well‑defined scope.
- Research feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, and regulatory agency specifications.
- Develop calculations, plans, specifications, requests for proposals, and other contract documents.
- Collaborate with engineering disciplines, office/project staff, clients, and subcontractors throughout the project life cycle, providing clear oral and written communication.
- Exercise judgment on details of work and make preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
- Act as Project Engineer to manage budgets and schedules, lead deliverables, develop and manage plans, permit checklists, scopes of work, and coordinate for timely completion and submission of projects.
- Travel may be required for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, general planning purposes, or to oversee construction activities.
- Mentor entry‑level and junior structural engineering staff.
- 6 or more years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
The ideal candidate will have experience designing flood walls, flood gates, retaining wall structures, and deep foundations, and will have delivered resiliency projects. Previous experience working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is highly preferred. A master’s degree in Structural Engineering is a plus, as is progressive experience in structural engineering projects related to water management, flood control, and seismic resilience.
Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as STAAD, MathCAD, AutoCAD, and Revit is also beneficial. Candidates should be able to write project specifications and provide engineering support during construction.

SalaryThe salary range for this position is $88,000 – $125,000 per year. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
