As a Project Engineer, you will coordinate and deliver transportation engineering projects within scope, budget, and time schedules from initial start-up through project closeout. These projects can range from small intersection and multimodal corridor improvement projects to large interchanges, multimodal improvements, low impact bridge construction projects and feasibility projects. This opportunity entails being responsible for the production and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans and specifications related to roadway projects.
You will apply engineering techniques, procedures, design software, and design criteria to develop both conceptual and detailed roadway designs for projects ranging in size and complexity. Mentor, train and review work of junior engineer staff and provide constructive feedback. As a member of the team, you will contribute to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects for HNTB's clients.
** What You'll Do:*
* + Responsible for the planning and distribution of discipline-specific work, and adherence to the schedule and budget on projects.
+ Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.
+ Assists with the development of scope of work and level of effort for projects and/or assignments within discipline.
+ Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team's work within the technical discipline. Guides and mentors team to overall project objectives.
+ Coordinates technical aspects of project with client counterpart and teaming partners at staff level for work within the discipline.
+ Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
** What You'll Need:*
* + Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience, or
+ Master's degree in Engineering and 5 years of relevant experience, or
+ PhD in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience
** What You'll Bring:*
* + Proficiency in applying engineering, geometric and algebraic principles in your work.
+ Displays proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Micro Station, Geopak, InRoads, Open Roads Designer and/or Auto Cad or other software as required for job assignments.
+ Attention to quality in design and production of deliverables. Compliance with project, office and company quality procedures.
+ Independently progresses the majority of designs and tasks required of the discipline.
+ Ability to plan the work of support staff, provide clear instructions, and follow up with assessment and constructive feedback.
+ Managing time, proactively forecasting, and communicating project development needs.
+ Eagerness to develop skills and build career working on challenging engineering projects for key transportation clients.
** What We Prefer:*
* + Professional Engineer (PE) certification
+ Previous Roadway Design Experience
+ 8+ years of relevant experience
