The Loan Assistant II is responsible for assisting commercial lenders. This position verifies, compiles, and completes loan applications. The Loan Assistant II prepares new loan requests to submit to loan processing and reviews the loan file to verify that data is complete and meets established standards. This position processes documentation of loans and extensions, closes and prepares loans for booking, and computes payment and interest.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review completed LOM for accuracy. (Daily, ~5%)
  • Order supporting documentation. (Daily, ~10%)
  • Submit LOM to loan ops. (Daily, ~10%)
  • Perform pre-funding review. (Daily, ~15%)
  • Close loan if needed / Fund Loan. (Daily, ~10%)
  • Prepare loan package for shipping and booking. (Daily, ~15%)
  • Pull maturity and past due reports. (Daily, ~5%)
  • Inform officer of required documentation for loan renewals. (Daily, ~5%)
  • Prepare basic Loan Offering Memorandum. (Daily, ~5%)
  • Assist in clearing collateral / credit exceptions. (Daily, ~5%)
  • Process draw requests / loan payments / transfers. (Daily, ~5%)
  • Handle loan research issues / questions. (Daily, ~5%)
  • Forward documents to loan ops for scanning. (Daily, ~5%)
  • Completes required BSA/AML training and other compliance training as assigned. (Annual)
  • The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and Experience

High school or GED, plus specialized schooling and/or on-the-job education in a specific skill area; e.g. data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc, plus 5 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Communication Skills

Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals;
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers. Ability to perform these mathematical skills using money and other forms of measurement.

Critical Thinking Skills

Ability to utilize common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral or diagrammed instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in situations of a routine nature.
