Responsibilities
Reviews information from all sources (chart, team report, patient evaluations, etc.) prior to initiating physical therapy treatment. Completes a comprehensive evaluation appropriate for the age and developmental level of the patient to identify skilled physical therapy needs. Establishes a plan of care and measurable goals appropriate for the clinical impairments identified at the evaluation. The patient and caregivers are included in the process.Proficient with implementing and modifying the treatment plan using appropriate modalities, interventions, and equipment. Documents findings and recommendations from therapy sessions according to established policies and procedures. Seeks consultation from others as necessary.Documents findings and recommendations from therapy sessions according to established policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory and reimbursement guidelines. Contributes to the review and creation of electronic medical record documentation templates by offering solutions for improvement.Demonstrates advanced knowledge of normal growth and development; and an understanding of the range of treatment appropriate for the patient's diagnosis or developmental stage. Able to recognize the impact of diagnosis or injury on the lifespan trajectory.Organizes patient and administrative (documentation, meetings, etc.) time efficiently to meet productivity standards ensuring that all patient care for the section is completed daily. Works collaboratively with team by coordinating daily patient assignments and clinic coverage. Performs billing processes according to established department procedures.Demonstrates clinical expertise and professional skills through precepting/mentoring team members, advanced self-study, and specialized continuing education. Provides in-services following educational programs. Serves as a clinical instructor for entry level physical therapy interns, preceptor for new team members, and mentor for physical therapy residents.Demonstrates knowledge of departmental policies and procedures, and treatment specific protocols regarding patient care. Participates in policy review as assigned.Participates in quality improvement projects, clinical research, online education courses/modules, and/or program development initiatives pertinent to the needs of the department.Maintains a positive attitude while modeling and encouraging others during process changes within the department and organization.Communicates information clearly and concisely in a manner that is not offensive. Helps others understand and retain the message. Provides feedback in a supportive manner.
