SummaryThe Manager, Clinical Research Nursing, plays a key role within the National Center for Opioid Research and Clinical Effectiveness (NCOR), providing operational and clinical oversight for research activities conducted both within the new NCOR facility, scheduled to open in March 2027, and across NCOR’s community-based research initiatives. This role oversees the day-to-day operations of NCOR’s research environments, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant execution of pediatric and family-centered research studies across clinical, imaging, neurophysiology, and community-based research settings.
This position provides leadership for research operations within NCOR’s integrated research spaces, including the Family Clinical Research Unit (FCRU), neuroimaging and EEG research areas, and other shared clinical research environments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating daily clinical research workflows, staffing, and participant flow across facility-based and community-based research activities
- Supporting studies utilizing advanced modalities such as MRI, EEG, biospecimen collection, and neurobehavioral assessments, as well as community-based data collection and interventions
- Ensuring trauma-informed, family-centered research practices for children and caregivers across clinical and community settings
- Collaborating with investigators, research staff, community partners, and operational leadership to support protocol feasibility, study start-up, and ongoing operations
Directs and manages a hospital unit dedicated to research and its operation. Supervises the coordinator pool composed of RNs and other professionals which provides clinical trial coordinators for researchers in need of support for their clinical research studies. Serves as a clinical research nurse coordinator. Coordinates selected specific aspects of clinical research studies while using the nursing process to provide safe, effective care to research participants.

DescriptionDirects and Manages the Clinical Trial Coordinator Pool, providing oversight and direction for the program and its continued growth and development. Assumes accountability for assessing staff resources and effectively delegating research/protocol responsibilities based on skill and knowledge of available resources to ensure adequate staffing/skills to meet research/protocol needs.
Ensures research staff is provided with professional development opportunities. Shares the professional responsibility for identification, development and achievement of unit/section goals.
Directs and manages a 4,000 square foot unit dedicated to Pediatric Clinical Research (PCRU) and its operations. Provide monthly business report to the Vice President and President of Research. Coordinates clinical research activities for the PCRU.
Serves as a Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator directly for studies.
Liaison to UAMS and AC Research Coordinators for ACRI and AC.
Maintains and expands clinical and professional expertise by completing a minimum of 12 contact hours per year of appropriate continuing education related to current practice area and role responsibilities.
Consistently demonstrates the new knowledge and skills gained from education are incorporated into actual clinical practice.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
