Services Engineer II – Network
Metro Sys is seeking a motivated and technically skilled Services Engineer II – Network to support and deliver networking solutions across a diverse client base. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong foundational networking experience who thrives in client-facing environments and enjoys working across multiple technologies and customer environments.
The engineer will be responsible for day-to-day support, troubleshooting, and implementation of network infrastructure, while also contributing to project delivery and continuous improvement initiatives.
Client Support & Operations- Provide ongoing support and configuration for client network environments, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Monitor network health using alerting and monitoring tools, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve routing, switching, and firewall-related incidents across multi-vendor environments.
- Manage and drive support tickets to resolution, meeting SLAs and client expectations.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support critical client environments.
- Assist with or lead network implementation and upgrade projects, including deployments, migrations, and optimizations.
- Work across multiple clients simultaneously, supporting varied environments and business requirements.
- Contribute to network design discussions and implementation planning.
- Create and maintain network diagrams, runbooks, and technical documentation for client environments.
- Follow established processes while identifying opportunities for operational improvements and efficiency gains.
- Ensure accurate documentation for knowledge sharing and client handoff.
- Collaborate with internal teams and clients to resolve issues and deliver solutions effectively.
- Handle escalations and provide guidance to junior engineers when needed.
- Build strong working relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with network infrastructure (routing, switching, firewalls).
- Experience in client-facing environments (MSP or professional services strongly preferred).
- Strong troubleshooting skills across network and security layers.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, multi-client environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting:
- Fortinet (required)
- Cisco & Cisco Meraki (required)
- SonicWALL (required)
- Experience with the following is a plus:
- Palo Alto
- Ruckus
- Arista
- HPE/Aruba
- Solid understanding of:
- VLAN design and segmentation
- Routing protocols and design concepts
- OSI model and network fundamentals
