Business Systems Analyst Job Summary
Gather and translate business requirements into functional and technical requirements for enterprise application systems. Analyze, configure, and enhance systems to improve workflows, meet business needs, and optimize performance. Conduct root-cause analysis, validate system functionality, support user acceptance, identify process improvements, and collaborate with business and technical teams to implement effective solutions.
Responsibilities- Gather, analyze, document, and interpret business requirements and system needs.
- Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications.
- Configure applications using logic statements and develop effective solutions for business challenges.
- Analyze and enhance existing systems to improve workflows and support new business initiatives.
- Perform root-cause analysis, system audits, and process assessments to identify improvement opportunities.
- Serve as project lead for small- to medium-scale projects.
- Integrate data from multiple sources, maintain data accuracy and integrity, and update data as needed.
- Analyze data and trends to prepare reports, support decision-making, and recommend system changes.
- Develop test scripts, execute test plans, and maintain test cases for system validation and user acceptance testing.
- Prepare system requirements documents and technical specifications for enterprise applications.
- Support the research, design, development, testing, documentation, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of new and existing systems.
- Collaborate with internal departments, external customers, and leadership to achieve consensus on business requirements.
- Conduct training on new procedures, system modifications, and system releases.
- Assist with project and program design by evaluating current practices and defining scope, objectives, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor s degree in business, computer science, healthcare management, or a related field.
- Five years of health-related non-clerical experience in an insurance, managed care, healthcare, or technology organization may substitute for the degree.
- At least three years of business systems analysis experience with complex technology systems, or a related master s degree with at least one year of experience.
- In-depth knowledge of insurance technology systems, including claims processing, marketing, membership, enrollment, customer service, financial, and provider systems.
