Position Overview /DutiesManages and administers the Safety and Occupational Health (S&OH) program. Formulates District policies and provides program direction by issuing regulations, standards, and technical guidance. Manages surveys, evaluations, studies, audits, and accident investigation/reporting. Advises the Commander and staff on occupational health matters. Serves as the District technical authority in S&OH.
Responsibilities- Develops program policies, procedures, and objectives for accomplishment of the S&OH program.
- Provides oversight and monitors the development and management of the District's Hazardous, Toxic and Radiological Waste (HTRW) Program.
- Interprets, recommends, or issues directions for the District's S&OH Training Program.
- Provides expert consultation and advice to top management, staff, operating officials, and the union on S&OH management issues pertaining to a wide variety of complex industrial, operating, construction, and engineering work situations.
- Assesses cumulative findings of safety management evaluations and other safety and/or occupational health surveys and accident reports to identify systemic issues/trends, and recommend corrective actions.
- Supervises S&OH office employees.
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD, Section 9905 to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
