Yard Manager – Heavy Industrial / Pipe Manufacturing Operations

An esteemed heavy manufacturing and logistics facility is in need of a Yard Manager to supervise the safe and efficient operation of a sizable industrial yard that supports pipe manufacturing, staging, inventory flow, and customer shipment readiness.
This role involves overseeing material flow, yard operations, manpower deployment, equipment utilization, inventory accuracy, and dispatch readiness within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and ensure safe and efficient function of yard operations supporting various materials and shipment preparation
- Manage day-to-day yard flow including unloading, storage, transfer staging, and dispatch readiness
- Oversee the handling of heavy materials and equipment ensuring compliance with safety standards
- Coordinate closely with various teams to support production continuity and customer delivery requirements
- Maintain disciplined inventory accuracy through tracking processes and transactions
- Lead and develop a team across multiple shifts
- Manage manpower allocation, overtime control, and equipment deployment
- Support on-time customer shipments through proper staging and loading coordination
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing operational costs
- Utilize KPI reporting for operational improvement
- Support personnel in hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management
- 7–10+ years of experience in heavy industrial yard operations, logistics, material handling, or manufacturing support
- 3–5+ years of supervisory leadership experience in industrial or manufacturing environments
- Experience leading large teams in a fast-paced operational setting
- Strong knowledge of heavy equipment operations, safe lifting practices, and traffic flow management
- Experience with inventory management systems
- Ability to support shift-based operations
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Steel, pipe, structural steel, or heavy manufacturing experience preferred
- Experience in new facility start-ups or operational ramp-ups
- OSHA, forklift, crane/rigging, or rail safety certifications preferred
- Experience with KPI dashboards and continuous improvement systems preferred
