Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Coronary Care – Critical Care Nurse at CHI St Vincent, you will specialize in the care of patients with acute and critical heart conditions, monitoring those who are critically ill and unstable following PCI, CHF (new onset or exacerbation), extensive injury, surgery, or life‑threatening disease.
CCU nurses are highly skilled professionals who provide continued care and perform procedures detailed in the care plan. This may include assisting a physician with a chest tube or central line, monitoring hemodynamically unstable patients with Impella, CRRT, or a temporary pacer, ensuring patients receive MRI or CT, and administering critical medications.
To thrive in this role, you must multitask, anticipate care needs in a fast‑paced environment, clinically care for patients, remain focused and attentive, and advocate for patients when they cannot. Your sound judgment during emergencies and rapid responses will be noted for advancement.
- Assesses, plans, and implements nursing care while ensuring patient comfort.
- Anticipates, identifies, and responds to informational and emotional needs of patients and families.
- Guides and directs healthcare personnel (e.g., Patient Care Technicians) in caring for patients.
- Maintains knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use (e.g., IV pumps, monitoring equipment, drainage devices, temporary pacer, CRRT, SWAN, Impella) and utilizes safeguards such as IV pump drug libraries and monitor alarms.
- Initiates emergency support measures (e.g., cardiopulmonary resuscitation, protection from injury).
- Assists with patient care duties (e.g., emptying drainage devices, ambulating, hygiene).

Job Requirements- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, upon hire.
- Registered Nurse license in good standing;
State of Arkansas or a compact state license required prior to start date. - 12 months of acute care experience (new graduates or nurses who have never worked in an acute care setting are hired through our residency training program).
- Previous cardiac and/or ICU experience strongly preferred.
- Basic Life Support – CPR certification within 30 days.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 12 months.
$32.28 – $43.58 per hour
