Job Duties
This posting will be used to fill multiple positions. Shift: Nights.
Job DescriptionThe Registered Nurse provides direct patient care to assigned patients in Medical Oncology/Family Medicine (H7). This unit has 30 private rooms and provides state‑of‑the‑art therapies to a wide range of medical oncology patients and family medicine patients. The RN develops skills in chemotherapy and biotherapy administration, management of IV central access devices, symptom management, emotional support, and palliative care. The area offers learning in all areas of medical‑surgical nursing.
An interdisciplinary team supports patients in their therapies.
Required
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with Associate’s Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelor’s in Nursing, or Master’s in Nursing.
- Valid RN License.
- 1 year of Registered Nursing experience.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong work ethics and accountability.
Preferred
- BSN or MSN.
- 2 or more years of nursing experience with a minimum of 1 year in an acute care setting such as a teaching hospital.
- 1 year or more of Oncology RN experience.
- National Certification.
- Adhere to the standard of care defined by UAMS, ANA, and specialty patient population standards.
- Collect and document assessment data.
- Develop a Plan of Care per standard and implement it, including medical orders and interdisciplinary care.
- Evaluate patient progress toward desired outcomes and provide effective education and discharge planning.
- Administer medication per standard, including drug information to patients and families.
- Act as a resource/supporter to others.
- Deliver patient care using the principles of the defined nursing modality.
- Delegate care based on UAMS standards, legal and regulatory requirements, specific job description, and individual education and training.
- Contribute to a positive work environment conducive to clinical education and serve as a resource for student nurses and staff.
- Perform any other duties assigned.
