Job Duties
DAY SHIFT POSITION - 7A-7P
The Registered Nurse (RN) for the Behavioral Health Service Line (BHSL) General Adult Inpatient Unit consistently provides effective direct care to a variety of patients, works as part of the interdisciplinary team, and integrates theory and research into clinical practice. The RN provides leadership to nursing team members, works under the direct supervision of the Clinical Services Manager, and seeks and provides feedback for improved clinical practice.
Promotion is based on experience, performance, and managerial recommendation.
The employee must successfully complete a UAMS sponsored conflict management training within six months of hire to identify, prevent, and mitigate disruptive behaviors using methods such as non-escalation, de-escalation, personal protection from physical assaults, and physical alternatives.
The BHSL General Adult Inpatient Unit is located in the Psychiatric Research Institute building on the main UAMS campus.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:- Graduated from an accredited nursing program with an Associate's Degree in Nursing, Nursing Diploma, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, or Master's Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of Registered Nurse experience
- Current and valid Registered Nurse license in the State of Arkansas
- Excellent communication skills, basic computer skills, strong work ethic, and accountability
- 2 or more years of Registered Nurse experience
- Current BLS
- Collect and document assessment data.
- Develop a Plan of Care (POC) per standard.
- Implement POC including medical order and interdisciplinary approach.
- Evaluate progress of patients toward desired outcomes.
- Provide effective patient/family education and discharge planning.
- Administer medication per standard including drug information to patients and families.
- Act as a resource and support others.
- Deliver patient care using the principles of the defined nursing modality.
- Delegate care based on UAMS standards, legal and regulatory requirements, specific job description and training.
- Contribute to a positive work environment conducive to clinical education and serve as a resource for student nurses and staff.
