Job Title: RN Specialty Labor and Delivery – Labor and Delivery

Department: Labor and Delivery

Shift: PRN

Working Hours: Rotating

Summary

A Registered Nurse is responsible for planning, organizing, and administering care within the scope of training and expertise, collaborating with other disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes, in accordance with the policies of the hospital and the Nurse Practice Act of Arkansas.

The Nursing role includes providing care to women and infants before, during, and after birth; assisting physicians and surgeons with all aspects of pregnancy and birth, including cesarean sections; and caring for women who experience complications. The focus is on assessing patients and developing a plan of care that meets their physical, psychological, educational/health literacy, sociocultural, and spiritual needs.

Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care to women and infants before, during, and after birth.
  • Assist physicians and surgeons with all aspects of pregnancy and birth, including cesarean sections.
  • Support patients who experience complications with their pregnancies or birth processes.
  • Assess patients and develop individualized plans of care; ensure follow‑up and continuity of care.
Qualifications
  • New RN graduate from an accredited nursing program or Registered Nurse in good standing, licensed to practice in Arkansas.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of pregnancy, labor, birth, post‑pregnancy care, complications, and treatments.
  • Ability to practice as part of an interdisciplinary team and deliver safe, high‑quality care.
  • Healthcare CPR required; some areas may require ACLS, PALS, or NALS—training provided.
  • Specialty education provided for units requiring specialized care.
  • Position authorized for 0.00 hours bi‑weekly.
