American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Float RN for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring 2+ years of experience and an AR or compact RN license.
Details- Float pool coverage between Med/Onc, two surgical units, and two medical units in an acute care hospital
- 128-bed Med/Surg unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Total care model with no PCAs
- Surgical patient population including colorectal, hepatobiliary, bariatric, general, and orthopedic cases
- Medical patient population including diabetes, heart disease, COPD, kidney, and GI conditions
- No telemetry monitoring on the unit, aside from occasional strip reading with remote tele monitoring support
- Respiratory therapy equipment managed by RT staff; RNs only apply nasal cannula on the floor
- Cerner EMR currently in use, transitioning to Epic in November 2026
- Charge nurse present on every shift and takes a patient assignment
- Nurse aides/PCTs available on the unit with varying ratios
- 12-hour day shifts, 7a-7p, with every other weekend required
- No holiday or on-call/standby requirements
- Floating required to any Med/Surg pod within the facility
- Active AR or Compact RN license required
- BLS certification (AHA) required
- Minimum 2 years of relevant, current medical/surgical experience required
- Large hospital experience required
- No first-time travelers considered for this position
- Not required to titrate drips
- Provide direct patient care across multiple Med/Surg units as part of a float pool team
- 3 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation provided
- Navy scrubs required; scrubs not provided
- Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any Common Spirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and Dignity, within the past year
- Candidates previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
