QC/Production Associate – PET Radiopharmaceutical Facility

About the Role

3D Imaging is seeking a motivated QC/Production Associate to support the production of PET radiopharmaceuticals used in clinical imaging and research. This entry-level role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and interested in working with advanced laboratory equipment, automated systems, and radioactive materials in a regulated environment.

You will receive structured, hands-on training in radiochemistry, cGMP production, cyclotron operations, and quality control processes.

About 3D Imaging

3D Imaging is a specialized contract research organization focused on the production and application of radiopharmaceuticals for PET imaging. We operate a medical cyclotron facility and support pharmaceutical companies, biotech organizations, federal agencies (NIH, NCTR, FDA), and academic researchers  work spans synthetic organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and radiochemistry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform FDG synthesis following SOPs and cGMP requirements
  • Operate automated/remote synthesis systems, including setup, reagent loading, monitoring, and documentation
  • Assist with cyclotron operation, monitoring, and documentation under supervision
  • Conduct in-process checks and support QC testing (pH, dose calibrator, visual inspection)
  • Complete batch records and production documentation accurately
  • Perform cleaning, environmental monitoring support, and routine equipment maintenance
  • Follow radiation safety, aseptic technique, and regulatory compliance standards
  • Package, label, and prepare finished doses for distribution
  • Report deviations, equipment issues, or out-of-specification results promptly
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support production and facility operations
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma required;
    Associate degree in chemistry, engineering, or related sciences preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to follow SOPs, safety procedures, and regulatory guidelines
  • Comfortable working with radioactive materials (training provided)
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform frequent standing, walking, bending, and handling tasks
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts (day/night) and occasional on-call/weekend duties
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Self-motivated with the ability to learn complex technical processes
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, radiochemistry, chemical engineering, or related field
  • Experience with coding/scripting (Python, MATLAB, R)
  • Mechanical aptitude; familiarity with hand tools or basic repairs
  • Introductory electrical knowledge or wiring safety
  • Experience with GC, HPLC, TLC, or other analytical instruments
  • Experience handling radioactive materials or radiopharmaceuticals
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals
  • Basic cyclotron operation or maintenance experience
  • Familiarity with cGMP, FDA, or other regulatory standards

Schedule
  • Full-time, Monday-Friday
  • Rotating schedule: 4 weeks day shift / 2 weeks night shift
  • Occasional on-call and weekend responsibilities as part of a shared rotation
