Quality Control Inspector – Duties and Responsibilities
  • Inspects all fabrication jobs to maintain the quality levels of work produced in accordance with applicable codes, standards, contract documents, and company QC procedures.
  • Prepares detailed and thorough daily inspection reports.
  • Monitors records on all shop welders with their level of certification and monitors daily rod use.
  • Assists in setting up, monitoring, and maintaining welding procedures, bolting procedures and painting procedures required for projects.
  • Provides feedback on questions related to quality and project requirements from shop employees.
  • Must be able to work overtime and maintain regular, punctual attendance.
Qualifications
  • Previous fitting and welding experience is required.
  • AWS certified welding inspector, ASNT level‑II certification, and/or SSPC/NACE certification is desirable.
  • 5 years of experience in a steel fabrication shop environment.
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints and shop drawings and pass an inspector test.
  • Must have excellent mathematical skills.
  • High School or equivalent degree required.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. frequently and climb 25 ft.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, push, and pull frequently.
  • Requires occasional travel with overnight stays.
  • Exposure to temperature fluctuations and loud work environment.
  • Overtime and weekend work may be required.
  • All of the physical demands listed are essential functions.
