The newly established Biomolecular Cryo-Electron Microscopy Center at the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute invites applications for a full-time Facility Manager position. We are seeking a highly motivated scientist with strong expertise in cryo-electron microscopy and structural biology to join our highly collaborative research institute. This will enable unprecedented access to the cryo-EM technology to researchers at institutes across Arkansas and the surrounding states.
Responsibilities- Execute routine Cryo-EM calibration and maintenance.
- Perform routine maintenance of accessory equipment.
- Implement cryo-EM sample vitrification for a variety of projects.
- Acquisition and processing of cryo-EM data including singly particle analysis and tomography.
- Management of multiple users in this research center.
- Training graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and staff in all aspects of cryo-EM single particle analysis.
- Keep accurate and clear records to help writing of manuscripts and center-related grant proposals as needed.
- Enable collaboration with faculty, students, and staff.
- Interact effectively with vendors and service engineers.
- Ph.D. in structural biology or related field with focus on cryo-EM.
- For the Associate and Principal Staff Scientist level at least 4+ years and 7+ years of postdoctoral research experience with demonstrated productivity in cryo-EM.
- Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
- Experience with cryo-EM facility workflow and management.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
This is a Staff Scientist ladderpositionwith opportunities for advancement. The successful candidate will help establish a state-of-the-art facility in a highly collaborative research environment. Mentorship and career growth will be provided through formal advisory committee and participation in relevant national and international meetings and training courses.

The Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute is the only cancer center in the state of Arkansas with a robust cancer research portfolio and a mission to improve cancer outcomes for all Arkansans. Its 195 members conduct outstanding cancer research within Cancer Therapeutics, Cancer Biology, and Cancer Prevention & Population Sciences research programs. The Biomolecular Cryo-EM Center will enable inter-programmatic collaborations at the Cancer Institute and bolster biomedical research across multiple UAMS Departments and nearby institutes.
