Biomedical Imaging Specialist

We are looking for a talented Biomedical Imaging Specialist (3-Month Contract) to support a short-term deployment at a partner site, Path Net, in Little Rock, AR. This contract role will begin with one month of paid training at our Seattle headquarters, followed by approximately two months onsite in Little Rock implementing and optimizing established 3D fluorescent labeling and tissue clearing techniques in combination with operating our patented open top light sheet microscope.

Candidates who will excel in this position will have a background in biology and/or chemistry, strong technical experience, aptitude for acquiring new knowledge, and most importantly, exhibit exceptional critical thinking skills.

• Perform advanced multiplex 3D immunofluorescence (IF) and in situ hybridization (ISH) labeling of thick tissues
• Implement established staining protocols, perform 3D imaging, and process and prepare 3D datasets for presentation.
• Interface with Path Net personnel while collaborating with Alpenglow data scientists for interpretation, data collection and analysis
• Enhance standard operating procedures (SOP) and provide detailed documentation
• Compile data for interim project readouts and reports, both internal and external
• Operate advanced light sheet microscope systems
• Manage competing priorities and project timelines in a dynamic team environment
• Deliver high quality results on time.
• Perform bench-work including hands on work with various species and organ systems including fresh human samples
• Create videos of 3D datasets for customer-facing presentations

• Thick tissue sectioning of biological specimens in a variety of fixation methods (fresh, frozen, FFPE blocks)
• Familiarity with staining techniques such as immunohistochemistry and fluorescence in situ hybridization, experience with tissue clearing techniques is a plus
• Experience with light‑sheet microscope systems
• Familiarity with imaging software such as Aivia, Image
  
  J, and Imaris
• Familiarity with command line interface, cloud based data storage processes, and executing or modifying simple scripts, python experience is a plus
• Industry experience in a project-based wetlab environment
• Passion for developing therapeutics or diagnostics for the treatment of cancer, metabolic diseases, and neurological diseases
• Master’s degree or above in the biological sciences, bioengineering, or related field
• $43.27/hr
