Graduate Research Assistant
The Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) supports the educational, research, and scholarly mission of the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) while pursuing combined MD/PhD training. The GRA contributes to advancing biomedical research at UAMS through laboratory, translational, clinical, computational, and/or population health investigations while developing the skills necessary for a career as an independent physician-scientist.

Department: COM | MD/PhD MSTP Graduate Assistants
Qualifications:
- Admission to or active enrollment in the institution's Medical Scientist Training Program (MD/PhD).
Responsibilities:
- Conduct independent and collaborative research under the guidance of a UAMS faculty mentor.
- Design, execute, analyze, and interpret scientific experiments using appropriate methodologies.
- Maintain accurate research records, laboratory notes, and study documentation.
- Participate in manuscript preparation, scientific publications, and grant-related activities as appropriate.
- Present research findings at laboratory meetings, institutional seminars, regional, national, and international scientific conferences as appropriate.
- Participate in responsible conduct of research, laboratory safety, and regulatory compliance activities.
- Complete all required graduate coursework and maintain satisfactory academic progress in both graduate and medical curricula.
- Participate in MSTP seminars, journal clubs, workshops, retreats, recruitment events, and other program activities.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary research teams and clinical investigators.
- Contribute to the mentoring and training of junior trainees when appropriate.
- Perform other research-related duties consistent with the educational mission of the MSTP.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary Information:
Support provided at the current approved MSTP and Graduate School funding level.
