Graduate Assistant Position
The Department of Information Science at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock is seeking an individual to serve as a Research Assistant in our graduate Bioinformatics program.
The Research Assistant (RA) will serve in a research support capacity. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.
QualificationsRequired Education and/or
Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education;
- Regular admission to a UA Little Rock graduate degree program or in connected maintaining and good standing with the UA Little Rock Graduate School for continuing graduate students;
- Ability to work the required hours (FT-50% - 20 hours per week/PT-25% - 10 hours per week) with regular attendance.
Preferred Education and/or
Experience:
- Programming in languages such as Python or Java for Desktop, Server-Side Web Apps, or Cloud;
- Web Design and Development Skills involving HTML, CSS, and Java script;
- Database Development and Writing SQL Queries (Oracle, MS SQL Server);
- Statistics, Data Mining, and Machine Learning;
- Knowledge of genetics and cell biology.
- Perform tasks and assist faculty members in research activities for a designated project;
- Assist in the collection of data and/or conduct independent research specific to the research project;
- Perform development work for the project. Depending on the needs of the project, development work could include training, statistical analysis, data mining, machine learning, programming, database, web design and development, system analysis, or network administration;
- Conduct testing, implementation, and evaluation of project deliverables;
- Coordinate project meetings and lead project discussions;
- Prepares reports and publications as needed;
- Assist in other specialized administrative, technical, or editorial duties connect to the research project.

- Skill in establishing and maintain effective working relationships;
- Skills in both verbal and written communication;
- Skill in the use of personal computer and related software applications.
Additional Information:
Salary Information: $1,666.67 monthly stipend
