Department's Website Summary ofJob Duties
Works under the general supervision of the Chief of Police and the direct supervision of Patrol Lieutenant. Responsible for enforcement of traffic, criminal laws and parking regulations. This position is governed by the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training and UAMS policies.
Qualifications- Have a high school diploma / GED.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Possess a valid Arkansas Driver’s license.
- At least two years certified law enforcement experience.
- Be certified by the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training as a Police Officer.
- Possess a General Certificate.
- Have basic computer skills with a general knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to properly prepare and write police reports.
- Ability to communicate and maintain a good rapport with the campus population.
- Ability to engage in and maintain control of persons by use of minimal force needed in required situations.
- Knowledge of law enforcement practices, methods, and techniques.
- Knowledge of law enforcement traffic, criminal laws, and departmental regulations and procedures.
- Ability to enforce parking regulations.
- Ability to operate motor vehicles used in work activities Skill in the operations of firearms.
- Ability to walk a minimum of 8 to 12 miles in a 12-hour shift.
- Ability to climb stairwells.
