Primary Position Objective
Responsible for effectively planning, developing, implementing and overseeing safety and security programs for the Center. Supervises security officers. Must be available to work any shift and day of the week due to a 24/7 operation.
Responsibilities- Oversee the safety and security of the Center, including supervision of security officers and substitutes during the shift.
- Ensure enforcement of all laws, rules, and policies within scope of authority.
- Ensure safety, health, and security of students, staff, and property.
- Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Conduct foot patrols of assigned areas and remain alert for disturbances, fires, safety hazards, traffic violations, suspicious and/or persons, and other unusual conditions.
- Administer rules and procedures regulating entry, exit, and conduct of persons who seek access to the campus.
- Aid and assist visitors, students, and staff in every way possible.
- Assist in conduct of evaluation drills, fire drills, and active shooter drills as required by the PRH.
- Secure premises and personnel by patrolling property, monitoring surveillance equipment, inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points, and permitting entry.
- Perform building security and safety checks.
- Obtain help by sounding alarms.
- Receive complaints and perform appropriate investigations as directed by management.
- Investigate vehicle accidents as assigned.
- Issue visitor passes and temporary parking permits.
- Assist in quelling disturbances.
- Prepare written accident reports and other reports as required.
- Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities, interviewing witnesses, and obtaining signatures.
- Coordinate recruiting, selecting, and training of security cadets.
- Participate in preparation and enforcement of the Center's safety and fire prevention program.
- Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities, informing violators of policy and procedures, and restraining trespassers.
- Participate in daily briefing covering assignments, proper dress, and procedures.
- Provide written and oral reports, briefings, or summaries to appropriate staff.
- Ensure all equipment is properly maintained.
- Provide vehicle checks to all entering and exiting traffic.
- Comply with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulation, Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), Serrato policies and procedures, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures.
- Maintain good housekeeping in all areas and comply with safety practices.
- Follow CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system daily.
- Model, mentor, and monitor appropriate Career Success Standards.
- Continuously help students become more employable.
- Participation in PRH mandated staff training is mandatory. Failure to participate may result in disciplinary actions up to and including termination.
- Assist in maintaining student security and accountability during training day and evening by continuously walking through areas where students are being trained, having lunch, participating in dorm activities, recreational activities, and monitoring grounds over entire Center.
- Provide transportation service as directed.
- Perform main entrance duty.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
- Computer literacy with basic computer functions, email, internet, and basic programs such as Adobe Acrobat.
- Strong knowledge of security procedures.
- High level of leadership and management skills.
- High level of good judgement and observation skills.
Three years of security, law enforcement, military, or related experience. One year of supervisory experience. At least one year in a residential living setting and background in youth services programs preferred. Safety-related training preferred.
EducationHigh School Diploma or Equivalent Required. Associate's Degree Preferred.
