Overview

Little Rock Police Department is hiring Police Officers for the upcoming November 2026 Police Academy. Candidates will be tasked with policing responsibilities, maintaining public safety, and upholding justice within the city.

• Safeguard life and property of the public.
• Enforce state, city and federal laws.
• Coordinate with partners to respond to incidents.
• Respond to emergency calls and maintain situational awareness.
• Participate in ongoing training and community outreach.
• Other essential job functions as defined in official job description.

• Meet all eligibility requirements set forth by the State of Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement, State of Arkansas Civil Service Statutes, and Little Rock Civil Service Rules and Regulations.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
• Must pass a comprehensive background check and drug/alcohol screening.
• Must complete all online application and supplemental questions before enrollment in academy.

• Annual pay ranges based on step and years in rank (see summary below).
• Step 1 (New Hire): $57,928 annually; $27.85 hourly.
• Step 2 (1 year): $61,401.60 annually; $29.52 hourly.
• Step 3 (2 years): $65,707.20 annually; $31.59 hourly.
• Step 4 (3 years): $69,992.00 annually; $33.65 hourly.
• Step 5 (4 years): $74,235.20 annually; $35.69 hourly.
• Step 6 (5 years): $74,235.20 annually; $35.69 hourly (no increase).
• Step 7 (6 years): $78,852.80 annually; $37.91 hourly.
• Step 8 (7 years): $78,852.80 annually; $37.91 hourly (no increase).
• Step 9 (8 years): $84,864.00 annually; $40.80 hourly.
• Step 10 (15 years): $88,275.20 annually; $42.44 hourly.
• Additional incentives:
  Hiring Incentive $10,000 payable upon academy graduation, Residency Incentive $5,000.
