Duties
* Verify personnel granted access to classified information have the requisite level of security clearance and approval.
* Reviews and maintains existing Personnel Security Programs to ensure relevancy, currency and thoroughness in meeting existing or evolving security mission requirements.
* Prepares security bulletins, provides training and other information and awareness materials related to security, security systems and procedures.
* Recommends and initiates programs to implement security mission goals or improve or correct deficiencies to meet security mission goals and requirements.
* Determines the fitness and suitability of applicants, contractors, volunteers and employees for initial and continuing employment retention.
* Ensures that classified defense information is safeguarded throughout the District. Requirements Conditions of employment
* Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
* This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program. This is the Department of Defense (DoD) Security Certification Program directed by DoD Instruction 3305.13.
* Responsible for observing all safety rules, regulations, and directives. Qualifications Who May Apply:

Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes 2 out of the 3 following:
1) Advising on programs and processes; OR
2) Conducting physical security inspections; OR
3) Analyze data and reports related to security procedures. Time in Grade Requirement:
Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). GS-11 Specialized
Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes 2 out of the 3 following:
1) conducting physical security inspections of government properties and operations; OR
2) completing anti-terrorism assessments; OR
3) conducting all security related training/briefings. Time in Grade Requirement:
