Construction & Maintenance Technician I – Little Rock, AR
Summit Utilities is a growing natural gas utility providing safe, reliable, and clean burning natural gas service to homes and businesses across Arkansas, Colorado, Maine, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas and Colorado.
We are looking for a Construction & Maintenance Technician I to perform company field operations including manual labor, installation, repair, construction, and maintenance of natural gas distribution systems. This position is based in Little Rock, AR.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Install, repair, or replace steel and plastic pipe
- Provide First Responder assistance in emergency situations
- Load and unload required equipment, tools, and supplies onto and from truck
- Locate gas lines
- Use a variety of hand tools and power tools, including picks, shovels, sharpshooters, pipe wrenches, pipe cutters, bolt cutters, pavement saws, jack hammers, air guns, etc.
- Operate a motor vehicle and heavy equipment and the ability to enter and exit vehicle unassisted
- Operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop
- Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- Stand, walk, stoop, kneel or crouch daily for extended periods of time and in all types of weather conditions
- Handle emergency situations, including possible exposure to gaseous atmospheres on occasion
- Respond to emergency calls and/or call‑outs and occasionally return to work while off duty
- Certify and don personal protective equipment, such as respirator, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves, protective footwear and earplugs on a daily basis
- Submit to random drug screen pool required for DOT drivers and DOT safety-sensitive positions
- Perform other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work outdoors on a daily basis in all types of weather conditions
- Must be available to respond to emergencies during and after normal working hours
- Welding
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Heavy equipment operator
- Field services/operations
The position is covered under the D.O.T. regulations and Summit Utilities Drug and Alcohol Policy and is, therefore, subject to all terms of the Policy, including the random selection for drug testing.
