Job Overview
Murphy‑Hoffman Company, LLC is North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership and leasing group. We are hiring a Mobile Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic to perform heavy‑duty mechanical truck repair and maintenance off‑site at customer locations. The role involves building customer relationships, achieving labor sales quota, and increasing sales within a designated territory.
Responsibilities- Perform routine mechanical repairs and maintenance on heavy‑duty truck equipment and components with general supervision.
- Coordinate customer repair orders with Service Manager and Shop Foremen for task assignment and with Service Advisor for proper scheduling of all mobile maintenance work.
- Advises customers on needed service work and suggests additional labor, parts and body‑shop sales where appropriate (e.g., preventive maintenance inspections).
- Follow safe work practices and procedures, use required safety equipment, and respond to safety suggestions; report any damage to equipment or property to supervisor immediately.
- Maintain favorable relations with customers.
- Create and close repair orders in the company system to document work performed and time spent; complete required paperwork accurately.
- Control business expenses within the approved budget and manage tooling and parts inventory on the service truck.
- Oversee operations of assigned customers in territory, call key accounts regularly, introduce preventive maintenance, new products, promotions, and provide literature as needed.
- Achieve labor sales objectives and quota for assigned accounts.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Minimum three years heavy‑duty truck repair experience.
- A/C, Brake and DOT Annual Inspector certifications required;
Engine and Component certifications are a plus. - Self‑motivated and capable of working with little supervision.
- Commitment to customer satisfaction and quality repairs.
- Excellent communication skills and a positive can‑do attitude.
- Necessary tools to perform position responsibilities.
- Class A or B CDL and/or DOT medical card may be required, depending on mobile service vehicle size.
