Summary of

Job Duties:

The Skilled Tradesman-STW-HVAC is responsible for performing skilled mechanical maintenance duties in the inspection, repair, installation and alteration of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems and related equipment and facilities; perform preventive maintenance and routine servicing of equipment. The Skilled Tradesman is responsible for the work activities in one or more of the following skilled trades: HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) area.

This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or

Experience:

  • Formal education or training equivalent to a high school diploma;
  • Completion of required HVAC education or HVAC trade school training, along with the required license; or certification in HVAC Mechanics according to ACA 17-33-301;
  • Requires EPA Section 608 Universal Refrigerant Technician Certification;
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts as needed;
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, repair and overhaul air conditioning systems, commercial and industrial refrigeration and air conditioning systems and combined heating, ventilation and cooling systems;
  • Inspect, repair, modify and install HVAC equipment including refrigeration and air conditioning compressors, receivers, condensers, chillers, water cooling towers, forced air converter units, pumps, automatic and hand valves, expansion valves and capillary tubes; connect motors to control panels;
    Install and calibrate systems;
    Install copper tubing and repair pipes and tubing as necessary;
    Test joints and insulate pipes of refrigeration and air conditioning systems;
    Install, rebuild, replace or repair fans, motors, thermostats, fuses, filters, bearings, valves, controls, gaskets and other equipment as necessary;
  • Conduct regular preventive maintenance inspections of refrigeration units, isolated heating and ventilating units, including boilers, gas and electrically operated air conditioning equipment, and make necessary adjustments or repairs; service and repair evaporative coolers; conduct boiler water quality test and…
