SummaryThe Mechanic I (F&E) position is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and providing high quality repairs on heavy equipment in a shop environment. Heavy Equipment types will range from compact construction equipment to large earth-moving, aerial and solar pulling equipment.
Requirements- Performs essential mechanic duties on a variety of equipment (skid steers, excavators, dozers, trenchers, bucket trucks, etc.), including troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of equipment; need to be familiar with all makes of equipment and contractual requirements (shop; field, as require).
- Performs electronic engine diagnosis and troubleshooting.
- Reports and documents work order completions/variances and production to supervisor.
- Understands and complies with all Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and regulations and Standard Operation Procedures.
- Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
- Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures.
- Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
- Reports productivity daily.
- Ensures quality control program processes are followed consistently according to the plan.
- Ensures the required documentation is submitted for monitoring and maintaining the
- Ensures permitting is complete before commencement of work.
- Ensures training is complete to comply with Environmental Management System (EMS) requirements.
- Follows any other job-related duties/functions requested by the supervisor.
- Ensures that safety is the most important function, follows safe practices while working.
- Reinforces safe behaviors and eliminates “at risk” behaviors.
- Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.
- Ensures Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s) occurs before scopes of work commence.
- Adheres to and understands standard operating procedures.
- Receives job- and task-specific training prior to work commencing.
- Follows technical, quality and safety systems in place and determines appropriate action.
- Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action. Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.
- High School Diploma / GED preferred.
- Certification CDL license with A or B certification; meets and maintains DOT qualifications with Medical Card; in good standing preferred.
- 2+ years of Heavy construction experience; or a graduate of a mechanical, technical college preferred.
- 100% travel with rotational schedule;
Valid Driver’s License required. - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must provide own standard tools (employer will provide specialty tools)
- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
- Ability to have regular attendance and be punctual
- Intermediate knowledge in:
- Communication and Listening skills
- Comprehending and following directions (Meeting work goals & deadlines)
- Working in a team environment
- Basic knowledge in:
- Reading and understanding mechanical equipment specifications, including maintenance, hydraulics, electrical, pneumatics, mechanical
- Adhering to safety rules and regulations
- Operating equipment safely and efficiently, including hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment
- Functional competencies include communication, attention to detail, teamwork, prioritization, and drive
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
Per Diem of $128.57 daily to cover lodging, meals and travel during rotation.
