Traffic Signal Technician

JOB OBJECTIVE:

To troubleshoot, repair and replace defective traffic signal controllers, signal heads, signal detection systems, signal displays, streetlights and pedestrian signal devices.

This position is designated as a safety/security sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through completion of high school supplemented by technical or vocational school coursework or apprenticeship in electrical trades work, completion of a recognized four (4) year electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent training, OR three (3) years of experience as a skilled Electrician/Traffic Signal Technician, or related area, and one (1) year of personal computer experience.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

• Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver's License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.
• Must possess International Municipal Signal Association Traffic Signals Level I certification within one (1) year of employment and maintain certification for the duration of employment in this position.
• Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
