Accounts Payable / Accounting Specialist — Part TimePerform assigned accounting functions under the guidance of the Accounting Manager. Process and monitor payments and expenditures, and analyze a variety of reports and records for accuracy. Coordinate accounting matters with internal departments and external vendors and suppliers. Ensure accounting functions are performed effectively and efficiently so that financial information remains accurate and up to date. Ensure vendors and suppliers are paid in a timely and appropriate manner.
Apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in maintaining basic to complex accounts within established accounting systems.
Work closely with Purchasing to verify the accuracy of vendor statements and inventory invoices. Initiate timely and appropriate adjustments when inaccuracies are identified and work with vendors and suppliers to make corrections.
Initiate invoice processing and verification, expense coding, and preparation of payment checks or vouchers in a timely and accurate manner.
Apply accounts payable principles to a wide variety of basic to complex transactions. Conduct analyses and provide recommendations or alternative solutions to improve financial performance and profitability.
Communicate with vendors and suppliers regarding questions or issues with statements and invoices, including obtaining credits that are due.
Serve as a key contact for internal personnel regarding vendor payment questions or issues.
Maintain and organize the Accounts Payable email inbox.
Process monthly corporate credit card expense reports.
Support month-end close by ensuring all liabilities and expenses are captured in the correct accounting period and that Accounts Payable balances are fully reconciled.
Maintain and update Accounts Payable records and files.
Ensure year-end 1099s are accurate and distributed on schedule.
Job RequirementsAssociate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field preferred.
1–2 years of accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of applicable education and experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel skills.
Experience with Acumatica is preferred but not required.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with internal teams and external vendors.
Working ConditionsTypical office work environment.
Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
Frequent keyboard and computer use.
Ability to communicate effectively by phone, email, and in person.
Position DetailsPart-time:
Approximately 25–30 hours per week.
Schedule:
Monday and Tuesday in the office, with some flexibility in scheduling.
Hybrid:
Candidate must be located in Colorado and able to work in the office two days per week.
Compensation: $25–$30 per hour
