- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to maintain and demonstrate flexibility in responding to changing needs; knowledge of current special education laws and practices; demonstrate effective group facilitation skills; ability to work individually with students; knowledge of best practices in assessment, service delivery and response to intervention models; demonstrate ability in using data in developing IEPs, functional behavior assessments, behavior intervention plans, danger assessments and crisis intervention;
ability to establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative relationships with colleagues, students and parents; desire and ability to function as a team member; ability to work with students in whole class and small group settings, knowledge of effective behavior management techniques; knowledge of running effective counseling groups; case management; crisis intervention; effective oral and written communication skills.
