About This Role

Are you an early childhood professional who believes in play-based learning? Would you enjoy working in a small school with wonderful families and an amazing staff? St. James Preschool (Littleton, CO) is seeking an Early Childhood Teacher with ECT qualifications. Candidates must have experience working with preschoolers and have a passion for teaching and supporting children in all areas of their development.

Teachers are responsible for planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate, investigative curriculum within a loving, faith-based environment. Fostering positive social/emotional development, critical thinking and problem-solving skills are priorities in the planning process. St. James uses Creative Curriculum, Conscious Discipline and The Pyramid Model as the foundational pieces of our preschool curriculum. We believe that play is the process and learning is the outcome.

The Early Childhood Teacher is a 5 day/week position. St. James Preschool is open from September through May. We follow the Littleton Public School schedule for breaks during the year. Children attend school from 9:30 to 1:30. The hours for teachers are 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Teachers begin work in mid-August and work one week after Memorial Day. Pay is commensurate with experience and education.

Starting pay is between $18-$22 per hour.

What You'll Do
  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
  • Team with teaching partner to plan individual and group play-based activities to actively engage children and encourage social, physical cognitive and emotional growth.
  • Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, parent-teacher conferences and weekly connection letters
  • Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
  • Ensure a healthy classroom environment – including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
  • Maintain accurate records, forms and files
  • Attend monthly staff and planning meetings (First and 3rd Wednesdays of the month from 1:30 to 3:30. This is paid time)
Requirements
  • The ability to connect with children and parents to form positive relationships.
  • PDIS Credential-Early Childhood Teacher
  • Minimum of 1 year of professional child care experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
  • A strong understanding of child development.
  • Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
  • Excellent organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Nice To Haves
  • Associate’s Degree (or higher) in early childhood education or related field of study with a minimum of 30 Credits in ECE.
