- Actively lead, supervise, and engage students in a variety of age-appropriate activities and maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment for children at all times in accordance with state, district, and building rules, regulations, policies, and guidelines.
- Prepare and organize materials and supplies for student participation in program and in all activities.
- Support student in SACC Program and during all activities including arrival/departure, lunch, snack, recess, and field trips, concerning environmental modifications and universal safety health precautions as needed.
- Support individual and school wide behavior plans e.g., cues, prompts, reinforcements, precision commands in all environments. Establish clear expectations for appropriate behavior of students, provide positive guidance, and establish consequences for inappropriate behavior in accordance with state, district, and building rules, regulations, policies, and guidelines.
- Communicate with Manager, Assistant Manager, and families about events, concerns, and issues involving student and program.
- Participate in staff development opportunities, attend staff meetings, share information with staff, and recognize opportunities to transfer knowledge to support student needs in the SACC program.
- Ensure student safety in all environments, practice safe work habits and personal safety, and follow universal health safety precautions. Attend to student medical needs as delegated by Health Care Action Plan.
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job. Refer concerns expressed by families, students, or others to Program Manager.
- Demonstrate the ability to adapt to changes in responsibilities and work schedule by maintaining flexibility and a positive, professional work ethic.
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must participate in career development/continued education as mandated by the State of Colorado.
- Criminal background check required for hire.
- Central Registry certification required at hire.
- CPR, First Aid, and Universal Precaution certifications required within 3 months of hire.
- Medication administration class required within 3 months of hire.
- Nationally recognized crisis training prevention suggested.
- 3 months of full-time or equivalent part-time verifiable experience working with elementary students in such areas as summer camps, scouts, sports, childcare.
- At least one year of experience in working with students with special needs preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Oral and written communication skills;
English language skills. - Maintains consistent, regular attendance at work; arrives and leaves work at scheduled times; respects time limits on breaks and lunch periods; and follows district procedures for absence reporting.
- Promotes and follows Board of Education policies, building or department procedures and any other rules and regulations as may be established by central, building, or department administration.
Starting pay is Grade 5 or $21.17 per hour.
