Position
Purpose:
Develop instructional material, coordinate educational content and incorporate current technology in math that provides guidelines to educators and instructors for developing curricula and conducting courses. Includes educational consultants and specialists and instructional material directors.
Essential Duties, Support of the Specific Content Area or Standards:
• Provides intensive technical coaching to improve math instruction of classroom teachers.
• Collaborates with teachers to self-assess and identify a focus of professional growth in math instruction.
• Offers demonstration lessons, planning and co-teaching with teachers on a regular basis.
• Demonstrates effective instructional and assessment practices to aid the implementation of the Colorado Academic Standards.
• Provides support with the development and implementation of formative and summative math assessments.
• Supports implementation of the Colorado Academic Standards through technical coaching support and organized professional learning opportunities.
• Observes classroom math lessons and provides focused feedback to teachers regarding instructional strategies and student engagement when teaching all components of the Colorado Academic Standards.
• Differentiates professional development to support teachers to move from goals and outcomes to independent application of those goals and outcomes in the math classroom.
• Works in collaboration with district and building leadership to develop, define and model instruction.
• Assists teachers with instructional planning that aligns with the Colorado Academic Standards.
• Guides support for teachers and PLCs by analysis of student work and assessment data.
Peer Coaching/Modeling:
• Provide non-evaluative coaching and demonstration teaching to assist staff members.
• Identify and support teachers growth as math leaders.
Professional Responsibilities:
• Collaborates with others to fulfill responsibilities related to building and district vision, mission, priorities and goal.
• Initiates and/or supports ideas that contribute to the excellence and continuous improvement of district math programs.
• Participates in cooperative analysis of goal achievement and improvement planning in math.
• Takes a proactive role in implementing strategies to achieve goals and priorities.
• Works harmoniously with colleagues.
• Provides coaching to increase the skills and knowledge of teachers to enable them to work most effectively with students.
• Participates in all district required professional development for coaching.
• Provides sustained professional development for individuals, teams of teachers or whole staff.
