At Lockheed Martin Space, we aim to harness the full potential of space to cultivate innovation, reduce costs, and push the boundaries of what technology can achieve.

And we’re reimagining how space can connect us, ensuring security and prosperity. Join us in shaping a new era in space and find a career that's built for you.

This position supports the Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) program and related Strategic Programs as a Staff level Quality Engineer. In this role, you will perform as a lead quality engineer across two programs within a rapidly growing part of our Strategic Missile Defense (SMD) business. You will analyze processes and drive actions that reduce variation and improve consistency across engineering, procurement, production, and quality processes.

You will establish the core quality assurance requirements and mission assurance plans on these missions or coach others on how to do so.

You will utilize Quality Engineering methods and leadership to evaluate and initiate actions to identify and control sources of variation detrimental to quality, cost, and schedule targets.

What will you be doing in this role?
  • Lead root cause analysis and drive effective corrective action to improve processes.
  • Analyze and generate quality metrics that might detect actionable trends in our processes.
  • Develop core program mission assurance requirements and guide engineering counterparts to meet those requirements.
  • Shape and lead process improvement strategy to drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Engineering counterparts to review, edit, and approve drawings.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain Quality to proactively shape our supply chain requirements and improve supplier performance.
  • Travel up to 25% may be required.

The individual in this role must have a strong commitment to process improvement and be capable of balancing multiple projects and priorities. You will be dedicated to the critical responsibility of doing “what’s right” for the product and our customers at all times. Striving for excellence in every detail will be our final line of defense in ensuring a successful mission.
