Description
Lockheed Martin is seeking a Staff level (Level4) Systems Integration & Test Engineer to support the integration of the Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) weapon system onto U.S. Navy submarines. In this senior technical lead role you will shape the end to end integration strategy, drive risk based decision making across the CPS industry and government ecosystem, and mentor the next generation of engineers.
You will influence requirements, define architecture, and ensure the technical integrity of CPS submarine interface activities from concept through fielding.
- Own the technical roadmap for CPS‑submarine integration, including power, thermal, data, mechanical, and structural interfaces.
- Integrate knowledge from naval architecture, weapons control, ship‑yard processes, and certification standards to ensure a coherent system design.
- Set integration objectives, define the approach for installation, test, and certification, and make independent technical decisions that are later reviewed only for long term results.
- Partner with the Test & Evaluation (T&E) Element to define the overall test strategy.
- Work with the System Engineering & Integration Team (SEIT) to shape high‑level CPS requirements and ensure they are reflected in submarine platform designs.
- Lead trade studies and generate practical, imaginative solutions that satisfy CPS integration objectives.
- Self initiate tasks and determine courses of action needed to meet program milestones.
- Serve as the prime technical liaison with the U.S. Navy Submarine Program Office, ship yard integration teams, and industry partners.
- Mentor senior and junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
- Contribute to the evolution of integration standards and publish lessons learned for future programs.
- Present technical status, risk assessments, and integration plans at senior‑level program reviews.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience in an engineering or technology development environment.
- Knowledge of US Navy weapon systems or US Navy submarine design or modification programs.
- Experience communicating technical subjects with external stakeholders and program engineering or program management leadership.
- Proven ability to apply extensive technical expertise across related disciplines (e.g., weapons control, naval architecture).
- U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain DoD Secret level clearance.
- Demonstrated behaviors of a systems thinker; selects and applies appropriate systems thinking skills to solve sophisticated problems and implement constructive change.
- Familiarity with US Navy build, test, and certification requirements.
- Experience with complex integration problem solving, involving multiple engineering disciplines and complying with rigorous system engineering processes.
- Direct experience with the Conventional Prompt Strike or other kinetic strike weapons.
- Prior involvement in Navy submarine acquisition programs (e.g., SSN, SSGN).
- Familiarity with DoD acquisition policies, MIL STD compliance, and Navy certification processes.
- Experience with model based systems engineering (MBSE), digital twins, or predictive analytics for integration planning.
- Knowledge of Navy Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) processes and procedures.
