We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Weld Engineer to support and continuously improve welding processes for aerospace manufacturing programs. This role is responsible for developing, qualifying, and sustaining welding processes that meet stringent quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities and Duties Welding Process Development & Support- Develop, qualify, and maintain welding processes and procedures (WPS, PQR) to support production
- Develop Laser and Ebeam welding programs
- Provide day‑to‑day welding engineering support to manufacturing, including troubleshooting weld defects and process issues.
- Optimize welding parameters to improve quality, repeatability, and throughput.
- Work with X-ray and NDT teams for weld inspections and verification
- Ensure welding processes comply with applicable codes and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, customer and internal specifications).
- Support welder qualification and re‑certification activities.
- Participate in audits, customer reviews, and internal process assessments.
- Partner closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Design Engineering, and Operations teams.
- Support the introduction of new materials, joint designs, and welding technologies.
- Provide technical input to drawings, specifications, and design for manufacturability (DFM).
- Lead or support root cause analysis and corrective action efforts related to weld quality.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to welding efficiency, cost, and quality.
- Capture and document best practices and lessons learned.
- Maintain accurate welding documentation, process records, and work instructions.
- Support training and technical guidance for welders and manufacturing personnel.
- Strong knowledge of welding processes (e.g., GTAW, GMAW, laser welding, electron beam welding, or similar).
- Experience developing and qualifying welding procedures and supporting production.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and weld symbols.
- Strong problem‑solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Aerospace or other highly regulated industry experience.
- Experience with exotic or aerospace‑grade materials (e.g., stainless steels, aluminum alloys, nickel‑based alloys, titanium).
- Familiarity with AWS and/or ASME codes and standards.
- Certified Welding Engineer (CWE) or similar certification.
- Experience supporting audits and customer qualifications.
- 5+ years of manufacturing weld engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field.
