Job SummaryWe are seeking a NDT X-Ray Technician to perform radiographic inspections of components critical to aerospace and defense applications. This role requires technical expertise in non-destructive testing, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities and Duties- Operate X‑ray and radiographic inspection equipment to perform non‑destructive testing (NDT) of aerospace components and assemblies.
- Prepare parts for inspection, including proper positioning, shielding, and documentation.
- Evaluate images and interpret test results in accordance with engineering specifications, blueprints, and process instructions.
- Document findings accurately and maintain historical records for quality assurance.
- Perform daily equipment setup, calibration, and quality checks to ensure optimal performance.
- Interpret X‑ray images to identify defects, anomalies, or non‑conformances in accordance with applicable standards.
- Conduct radiation safety surveys and complete required annual radiation safety training.
- Ensure compliance with radiation safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and company procedures.
- Perform routine inspections, calibration checks, and basic maintenance of X‑ray systems.
- Accurately document inspection results, findings, and reports in accordance with quality requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve inspection‑related issues.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inspection processes and equipment performance.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Level 2 certification in radiography per National Aerospace Standard NAS
410 Rev 6. - Minimum of 80 hours of formal classroom education in radiography.
- At least 1000 hours of hands‑on radiography experience.
- Ability to independently set up, calibrate, conduct tests, evaluate results, and document findings without supervision.
- Comprehensive knowledge of radiographic imaging techniques, including their scope and limitations.
- Successful completion of written general, specific, and practical examinations.
- Working knowledge of X‑ray safety practices and radiation control procedures.
- Ability to read technical drawings, specifications, and inspection criteria.
- Certification in radiographic testing (RT) or other relevant NDT certifications.
- Experience with digital radiography (DR) or computed radiography (CR) systems.
- Familiarity with aerospace quality standards (e.g., AS9100).
- Experience working in export‑controlled or regulated environments.
