The AI Research Engineering Sr Manager will lead a diverse team of scientists and engineers to accelerate the timeline from discovery to the transition of disruptive technology to our internal and external customers.
Areas of interest include but are not limited to, fusion of rigorous physics-based models with modern agentic interfaces and workflows; reasoning over large, unstructured, and dynamic datasets to create intelligence insights at mission-relevant timescales; neural network solutions to complex and compute-intensive PDEs; reinforcement learning approaches to network security and real-time cyber mitigation. In this role, you are responsible for planning and executing the department R&D, including building the roadmap that provides clarity to executives and customers around the timing and business/mission impact of that R&D.
You will interface and partner with universities and small businesses to ensure Lockheed Martin is leveraging the bleeding edge of technology in its mission to delivery 100% mission success to our customers. You are responsible for the development of a world-class workforce that addresses unsolved problems in AI and Autonomy applied to Deep Space, Earth and Solar Science, Department of War, and Intelligence Community critical missions.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, or related field.
• 10+ years experience in AI/ML, either as a developer or a technical leader of a team.
• 5+ years experience in a functional management role.
Demonstrated experience delivering AI solutions beyond R&D and into operational systems.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML frameworks (e.g. Tensor Flow) and modern AI architectures.
• US Citizenship is required. Ability to work in a classified environment.
Desired
Skills:
• PhD in AI, Machine Learning, or related field.
• Background in real-time, embedded implementations of AI/ML, including continuous model updates and validation in the field.
• Demonstrated success delivering AI/ML solutions to government customers through SBIR, OT, or other contractual means.
Security Clearance Statement:
This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time:
The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules:
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $184,100 - $324,530. For states not…
