Assembly, Integration & Test Technician
Job Description
This role focuses on assembling, integrating, and testing spacecraft hardware and subsystems in a manufacturing and clean room environment. You will work on activities such as hardware assembly, soldering and PCB inspection, harness builds, component and assembly testing, and supporting environmental test campaigns for spacecraft. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about space systems, enjoys hands-on technical work, and is eager to learn and grow as part of a close-knit, collaborative team.
Responsibilities
+ Follow detailed, step-by-step guidelines to build electrical and mechanical assemblies and accurately document each stage of the build process.
+ Operate torque wrenches and similar tools to meet product specifications and ensure high-quality, reliable assemblies.
+ Obtain and maintain IPC certifications for wire harnessing and soldering assemblies as required by project needs.
+ Assemble and solder components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs) in accordance with engineering drawings and process standards.
+ Perform PCB inspections to verify quality, identify defects, and support board repair activities as needed.
+ Install project-specific sensors, including thermistors and accelerometers, onto spacecraft hardware and test setups.
+ Build wire harnesses and connectors, ensuring proper routing, strain relief, and labeling to meet design and test requirements.
+ Support propulsion module and spacecraft testing, including setup, execution, and documentation of test activities.
+ Work closely with engineers to troubleshoot hardware problems, using diagnostic tools and test equipment to identify root causes.
+ Apply troubleshooting and diagnostic processes to resolve issues with electronic boards, harnesses, and assemblies.
+ Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and written instructions to accurately assemble and test hardware.
+ Support environmental testing campaigns for spacecraft, including test planning, setup, execution, and data collection.
+ Use test equipment and participate in fabrication and test activities to validate hardware performance and reliability.
+ Contribute to test planning and procedure writing for satellite and hardware testing, ensuring clarity and completeness.
+ Assist with non-conformance resolution by documenting issues, supporting investigations, and implementing corrective actions.
+ Collaborate with team members to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area within the manufacturing and clean room environment.
Essential Skills
+ At least 5 years of hands-on experience in assembly, integration, or test in an electronics, aerospace, or related environment.
+ Proficiency with soldering, crimping, and harness builds for electronic and electromechanical systems.
+
Experience with electronics testing, including the use of test equipment to verify and validate hardware performance.
+
Experience with board repair, including diagnosing and correcting issues on PCBs.
+ Ability to follow detailed verbal and written instructions, procedures, and engineering documentation.
+ Good written and verbal communication skills to document work and collaborate effectively with engineers and technicians.
+ Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as required for handling hardware, fixtures, and equipment.
+ Ability to climb a 13-foot ladder to access test setups or hardware as needed.
+ Ability to stand for long periods of time while performing assembly and test tasks.
+ Eligibility to work in the United States in accordance with applicable regulations.

Skills & Qualifications
+
Experience with Visio, Excel, and/or CAD drawing software to view, interpret, or document designs and test setups.

Experience with fabrication and test activities in a hardware-focused environment.
+
Experience with non-conformance resolution, including documentation, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
+ NASA certifications for soldering, crimping, and harness builds.
+
Experience with harness fabrication, including routing, lacing, and connector termination.
+ Experience working with vacuum chambers and related test equipment.
+
Experience with satellite test, including test planning, test writing, and environmental testing.
+
Experience with test planning and procedure writing for hardware and satellite systems.
+ Familiarity with environmental testing of hardware, such as vibration, thermal, or vacuum testing.
+ Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
+ Interest in and passion for space systems, spacecraft, and space exploration.
Work Environment
The role is based in a manufacturing and clean room environment focused on spacecraft hardware production and testing.
