Job Description & How to Apply Below
Space is a critical domain, connecting our technologies, our security and our humanity. While others view space as a destination, we see it as a realm of possibilities, where we can do more - we can innovate, invest, inspire and integrate our capabilities to transform the future.
At Lockheed Martin Space, we aim to harness the full potential of space to cultivate innovation, reduce costs, and push the boundaries of what technology can achieve. We're creating future-ready solutions, focusing on resiliency and urgency through our 21st Century Security vision. We're erasing boundaries and forming partnerships across industries and around the world. We're advancing spacecraft and the workforce to fuel the next generation.
And we're reimagining how space can connect us, ensuring security and prosperity.
Join us in shaping a new era in space and find a career that's built for you.
A Level 5 Simulation Integration Engineer is a senior role responsible for architecting, validating, and deploying complex modeling and simulation frameworks that bridge physics based simulations with physical hardware. Candidates must typically possess a STEM Bachelor's Degree with 8+ years of experience, or a Master's degree with 7+ years of experience.
We are seeking an innovative, highly technical Level 5 Simulation Integration Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of an integrated system level simulation. Including hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) and software-in-the-loop (SWIL) test environments. In this role, you will join a fast paced system level simulation team, leading cross-functional integration activities, ensure simulation fidelity, and act as the principal bridge between software, hardware, and systems engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Simulation Architecture:
Architect, build, and maintain scalable virtual environments, digital twins, and simulation frameworks.
Integration & Verification:
Lead subsystem's (PSOC & Reentry), hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) and software-in-the-loop (SWIL) simulation integration into the system level simulation. Validate simulation models against real-world hardware behavior and testing data.
Identify, pursue, and implement 1LMx solutions for simulation, analysis, and MBSE across the FBM program
Cross-Functional Leadership:
Serve as a technical authority, guiding junior and mid-level engineers in the integration and testing processes.
Tool Development:
Develop and deploy custom scripts, APIs, and plugins to connect domain models, allowing for seamless data exchange between simulation and SCADA/control systems.
Technical Documentation:
Author master test plans, system requirements, and interface control documents ensuring alignment with industry and government guidelines.
Root Cause Analysis:
Identify and troubleshoot system anomalies. Trace discrepancies to either simulation artifacts or hardware integration flaws and implement corrective actions.
Basic Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum of 8+ years of relevant industry experience (or 7+ years with a Master's degree) in modeling, simulation, and integration.
Technical Proficiency:
Expert-level capability in languages like Python and C++.
Experience with simulation or electrical design tools (e.g., ARISE, STK, PREPAR3
DMATLAB/Simulink, SPICE, etc.).
Physics Based (6
DOF) simulation and analysis experience
Systems Understanding:
Strong working knowledge of embedded systems, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and interface protocols (e.g., CAN, Ethernet).
Leadership:
Demonstrated ability to manage projects, lead design reviews, engage with external partners and mentor team members.
Clearance/Citizenship:
Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident) with active Final Secret and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Top Secret clearance.
Desired skills
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Advanced Degree:
Master's Degree or Ph.D. in a core engineering or computer science discipline.
Domain
Experience:
Prior work in defense, aerospace, autonomous vehicles, or heavily regulated industrial controls.
Clearance:
Active DoD Secret or Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
