About the Role
This role will be a valued member of a tight‑knit engineering team responsible for a variety of GNC hardware components—including GPS receivers, reaction wheel assemblies, sun sensors, star trackers, inertial measurement units, and magnetic torque rods—supporting multiple Lockheed Martin Space programs. From procurement through manufacturing, testing, integration, and on‑orbit operation, you will collaborate with subject‑matter experts and external partners such as customers and suppliers.
The position may include periods of business travel.
- Support the full lifecycle of GNC hardware from design and procurement through manufacturing, testing, integration, and operational support.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and external stakeholders to ensure hardware meets system requirements.
- Contribute to the development and documentation of integration plans, test procedures, and operational guidelines.
- Demonstrated experience applying at least one of the following within a GNC or spacecraft context: algorithm development (e.g., estimation, filtering, control laws), systems engineering (e.g., requirements decomposition, interface definition), ATLO, or hardware lifecycle support.
- Knowledge of GNC subsystems, understanding how components such as GPS receivers, IMUs, star trackers, and reaction wheels contribute to spacecraft state estimation and control.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Required to be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain Top Secret with SCI eligibility (TS/SCI) for long‑term employment on this program.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering or other related engineering discipline.
- Experience working with hardware development, including build, test, and integration.
- Ability to clearly convey technical concepts, issues, and status to engineering peers, cross‑functional teams, and external stakeholders.
- Familiarity with orbital mechanics.
- Familiarity with spacecraft navigation and attitude determination.
- Proficiency in MATLAB and STK.
