Systems Engineer
Space is a critical domain, connecting our technologies, our security and our humanity. While others view space as a destination, we see it as a realm of possibilities, where we can innovate, invest, inspire, and integrate our capabilities to transform the future.
At Lockheed Martin Space, we harness the full potential of space to cultivate innovation, reduce costs, and push the boundaries of what technology can achieve. We create future‑ready solutions focused on resiliency and urgency through our 21st Century Security® vision, erasing boundaries and forming partnerships across industries worldwide.
A Level 5 Simulation Integration Engineer is a senior role responsible for architecting, validating, and deploying complex modeling and simulation frameworks that bridge physics‑based simulations with physical hardware. Candidates must typically possess a STEM bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience, or a master’s degree with 7+ years of experience.
Key Responsibilities- Architect, build, and maintain scalable virtual environments, digital twins, and simulation frameworks.
- Lead subsystem integration (PSOC & Reentry) and hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HWIL) and software‑in‑the‑loop (SWIL) simulation into the system‑level simulation; validate models against real‑world hardware behavior and testing data.
- Identify, pursue, and implement 1LMx solutions for simulation, analysis, and MBSE across the FBM program.
- Serve as a technical authority, guiding junior and mid‑level engineers in integration and testing processes.
- Develop and deploy custom scripts, APIs, and plugins to connect domain models and enable seamless data exchange between simulation and SCADA/control systems.
- Author master test plans, system requirements, and interface control documents, ensuring alignment with industry and government guidelines.
- Identify and troubleshoot system anomalies; trace discrepancies to simulation artifacts or hardware integration flaws and implement corrective actions.
- Minimum of 8+ years of relevant industry experience (or 7+ years with a master’s degree) in modeling, simulation, and integration.
- Expert‑level proficiency in Python and C++; experience with simulation or electrical design tools such as ARISE, STK, PREPAR3D, MATLAB/Simulink, SPICE, etc.
- Experience with physics‑based (6
DOF) simulation and analysis. - Strong working knowledge of embedded systems, real‑time operating systems (RTOS), and interface protocols (CAN, Ethernet, etc.).
