Description

The Fleet Ballistic Missile Avionics team is seeking an experienced Electromechanical Harness Engineer who will lead a team of engineers in the development of 3D concept models of space flight avionics cable and harnessing and ultimately advance them for flight use.

Location

This position does not support teleworking; you will be located near our Lockheed Martin Space facility in Littleton or Englewood CO and be expected to work a flexible 9x80 schedule in the office full-time.

Responsibilities
  • Lead trade studies on cable and harness design approaches and provide technical data for informal and formal design review documentation and presentations.
  • Provide leadership on a fast‑paced team from requirements through development and production.
  • Ensure coordination between functional groups during the product development life cycle.
  • Communicate technical status and issues internally to program leadership, technical leadership and functional leadership as well as externally to the customer.
  • Conduct personnel management for a portion of the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Avionics team.
  • Coordinate subordinate employee recruitment, selection, and training.
  • Assess performance, assign work, determine salary, and handle recognition/disciplinary actions.
  • Participate in technical reviews and audits.
  • Serve as FBM TMK2 Harness Lead over RF and General Cabling.
  • Develop cable designs, performance and test requirements, and conduct stress and thermal analysis.
  • Identify initial physical architecture for the avionics subsystem.
  • Conduct R&D trade studies for the Pre‑SRR design phase.
  • Leverage LE2 R&D accomplishments into the LE2 subsystem architecture concepts as appropriate.
  • Define requirements and provide the framework for architecture and interface development & maintenance throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Generate and release design disclosure artifacts including technical presentations and year‑end reports.
  • Work with a cross‑functional team in the development and integration of world‑class avionics systems.
  • Participate in iterative design reviews, Engineering Material Review Board (EMRB) hardware discrepancy decisions, and Failure Review Board (FRB) as required.
  • Resolve test anomalies and support system‑level testing.
  • Work autonomously, delivering work products and being accountable for milestone achievement at a high level of reporting.
Requirements
  • Experience with wire harness and cable design of electrical/mechanical interconnects for satellite spacecraft equipment and/or missile systems.
  • At least 8 years of professional experience.
  • Bachelor of Science or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.
  • Proven experience in electrical/mechanical engineering including wire harness/cable design.
  • Experience synthesizing requirements into cable and harness designs at different assembly levels.
  • Experience with CAD design.
  • Willing and able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top‑Secret clearance; US Citizenship required.
Desired Skills
  • Knowledge of cable manufacturing processes (connectors, crimping, soldering, forming, testing).
  • Experience with RF cable design.
  • Working knowledge of EPDM tools or equivalent.
  • Exposure to DFx principles.
  • Experience with CREO CAD modeling and Zuken.
  • Missile/Aerospace related experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project).
  • Familiarity with FBM specifications/procedures.
  • Experience partnering with SP/SPF Customer Partners.
  • Experience with QNotes (SAP/ERP), PMP Database, FAST Items, DaSI, FBM Web (Livelink).
  • Previous CPE and MRB experience.
  • Ability to communicate issues and additional resource needs to leadership.
  • Experience with subcontracted hardware suppliers.
  • Experience performing tolerance stack‑ups.
  • Exposure to requalification activities, including MORAs and supplier relocations.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a team and with adjacent disciplines.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Hands‑on hardware experience.
Security Clearance

Top‑Secret clearance required; US Citizenship is mandatory.

Compensation

Annual base salary range (excluding most major metropolitan areas in CA, MA, NY, CO, HI, IL, MD, MN, NJ, VT, WA, DC): $109,200 - $192,510. Salary may vary by location and qualifications.
