Job Description
Lockheed Martin Space is offering an immediate opportunity for a mid‑career System Safety Engineer at its Denver, CO facility. The role supports national defense system development, focusing on ensuring mission success through rigorous system safety practices.
Responsibilities- Develop and/or update Preliminary Hazard List (PHL), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Functional Hazard Analyses (FHAs), System Hazard Analyses (SHA), and Safety Assessment Reports (SAR).
- Prepare presentations and participate in Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings, and various working groups and safety review meetings.
- Support the development and updating of System Safety documents to meet customer, range safety, and contractual requirements.
- Review and provide input to test procedures for adherence to System Safety requirements.
- Coordinate with test range safety teams and write range safety reports to support testing.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of a Hazard Tracking System (HTS) used to document real and potential hazards, their assessments, and corresponding mitigations.
- Create fault trees to support Safety Board interactions.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in engineering or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of system safety standards.
- Knowledge of system safety design and operations safety principles, including hazard identification, analysis, risk mitigation, and associated deliverable documentation.
- Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance and U.S. citizenship (not required to start).
- Experience using MIL‑STD‑882E, SSMAN 91‑710, NASA GSFC‑STD‑8009, or other relevant industry and/or range safety standards.
- Experience participating or presenting in DoD System Safety Working Groups and Safety Boards.
- Familiarity with DOORS and/or Cameo.
- Effective communication skills and ability to engage in group meetings and working environments with team members, development organizations, and customers.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Active Secret clearance.
This position requires a government security clearance; applicants must be U.S. citizens.
Clearance Level: Secret.
Schedule & Work LocationOnsite full‑time at the designated Lockheed Martin facility. Work schedule may include a 9x80 schedule with every other Friday off.
Pay Rate & BenefitsAnnual base salary range (Colorado): $89,300 – $157,550 (guideline; subject to factors such as scope, experience, and market).
