Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science or higher in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.
- Experience in the design, debugging and/or verification of one or more of the following: FPGAs, Digital ASICs, Mixed‑signal ASICs.
- HDL programming experience with VHDL, Verilog, and/or System Verilog.
- Prior technical leadership experience preferred.
- Linux development environment experience.
ASIC & FPGA Design Engineer – responsible for supporting over 50 programs and R&D initiatives across military, civil, and commercial space, missile systems, satellite surveillance, deep space exploration, and manned flight missions.
Location:
Lockheed Martin Space facility in Littleton, CO. The position requires onsite presence; teleworking is not supported.
Work schedule is a flexible 9x80 in‑office full‑time arrangement.
Key Activities You Will Accomplish In This Role- Work with low SWaP, radiation‑hardened, space‑rated devices.
- Develop ASIC and FPGA solutions throughout the lifecycle: requirements capture, architecture, design, analysis, simulation, and testing in a Linux‑based high‑performance computing environment.
- Participate in technical reviews and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with an independent verification team that conducts parallel design verification.
- Strong independent thinking, organizational skills, and proficiency in digital laboratory environments.
- 5+ years of professional ASIC/FPGA design experience.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance; a TS/SCI clearance will be a plus.
- Experience leading or managing ASIC or FPGA projects.
- Demonstrated self‑starter and voracious learner.
- High emotional intelligence.
- Space system design experience and understanding of related hardware and system requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office, Atlassian JIRA, and Earned Value Management System (EVMS).
- Customer‑facing communication experience.
- Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
