Civil Engineer; Entry-Level

Job Description

This roleis an entry-level position that requires a motivated, self-starting professional who embodies Redland’s values and is committed to ongoing personal and professional growth. This role supports the engineering team by assisting with the design and documentation of land development projects while developing technical skills through completion of positional Learning & Growth goals. Responsibilities include collaborating with colleagues, taking ownership of assigned tasks, and seeking to understand the broader context and objectives of each task, all while producing creative, high-quality work.

• Providing support to team members and Project Manager(s) as required.
• Assisting in the preparation of civil engineering designs, technical calculations and reports, construction documents, specifications, entitlement documents, and permit applications for residential subdivisions, commercial & industrial developments, multifamily developments, and other private land development projects.
• Assisting in engineering designs related to water systems, sanitary sewer, grading, storm drainage, and roadway improvements.
• Performing material and code research, material quantity estimation, and other supporting documentation and tasks for projects.
• Utilizing AutoCAD (CIVIL3D) and other software to assist with the designs and drawings for schematic, design development, and construction documents.
• Performing other duties as required.

Salary: $70,000 to $87,500 plus bonus opportunities, Depending on experience.

• Possessing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum.
• Typically, 0-3years of civil engineering experience primarily focused on private sector land development projects. Entry Level candidates without job related experience are encouraged to apply.
• Possessing foundational knowledge of civil engineering practices, including roadway, utility, and storm drainage.
• Registered EIT or actively pursuing completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.

• Beginner Level proficiency with AutoCAD Civil3D.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to develop proficiency in the use of MHFD’s Design Resources, Auto Turn, HEC-RAS and other civil engineering related software required to complete tasks on land development projects.
• Land development engineering experience and skills; large and small-scale grading, drainage and utility design; roadway design are a plus.

• Maintaining efficiency and attention to detail by completing and reviewing work for accuracy and completeness prior to providing to others.
• Organizing work according to the company’s file naming and filing standards.
• Understanding project goals, project schedules, and budgets, and working efficiently within direction provided by project manager(s) and team members.
• Demonstrating strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Being a self-starter who is self-motivated and takes ownership of tasks.
• Seeking to understand the broader objectives and context of each project.

• Exhibiting a commitment to continuous learning by engaging in Redland’s mentoring programs and completing position-specific Learning and Growth goals.
• Utilizing Redland’s Associate Rotation Program to widen learning experiences with managerial styles, market sectors, and project types.
• Demonstrating creative thinking and problem-solving by proactively identifying solutions and exploring alternatives before seeking guidance from others.
• Proactively building industry knowledge by seeking guidance from Engineers, Landscape Architects, Planners, and Construction Managers.

• This position works in-person at our office in Littleton, Colorado.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer workstation.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
